Why use a Proxy?
By using a Proxy you will be able to visit websites that are blocked from your network. For example, in work/offices, normally you can't visit websites such as MySpace, Facebook, YouTube etc., because these websites are blocked from the network.

How does it work?
You will browse your websites through someone elses server - this will also show sites you visit a different IP-address than the one you are actually on.
